The Place is associated with Mahabodhi Temple Complex located in the district of Gaya in the Indian state of Bihar. It is famous for the birthplace of Buddhism, as Lord Buddha was enlightened here.

It is one of the most important of the four major pilgrimage sites of Buddhism and Lord Buddha, apart from Kushinagar, Lumbini and Sarnath. The temple complex is now a UNESCO world heritage site. Lord Buddha sat under Bodhi tree for straight three days and three nights meditating, after which Siddhartha claimed to have attained enlightenment and insight, along with the answers that he had sought.
