Punjab Gurudwara Tour

Arrive in Amritsar, the spiritual capital of Sikhism. Check into your hotel. In the evening, visit the world-renowned Harmandir Sahib (Golden Temple), the holiest shrine of Sikhism. Spend time in peaceful reflection, and witness the evening Palki Sahib ceremony when the Guru Granth Sahib is carried to its resting place.

After breakfast, take an excursion to Tarn Taran Sahib, located 22 km from Amritsar. This Gurudwara is renowned for having the largest sarovar (holy tank) among all Sikh shrines and was founded by the fifth Guru, Guru Arjan Dev Ji.  Return to Amritsar and visit the Durgiana Temple and Jallianwala Bagh, a memorial for the tragic massacre of 1919.  In the evening, revisit the Golden Temple to absorb its night-time beauty.

After breakfast, drive to Jalandhar, an important city in Punjab’s cultural and historical landscape. Here visit Gurudwara Talhan Sahib, a revered shrine where devotees come to seek blessings. Explore Devi Talab Mandir and Shiv Mandir to appreciate the city’s historical importance to multiple faiths.

After breakfast, drive to Ludhiana, known for its industrial significance but also home to important Sikh shrines. Upon arrival visit the Gurudwara Nanaksar Jagraon, built in memory of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. This serene Gurudwara is an important pilgrimage spot for Sikhs.  In the evening, explore Punjab Agricultural University Museum, which gives insight into the traditional and rural life of Punjab. Overnight stay in Ludhiana.

After breakfast, proceed to Patiala, a city rich in Sikh history and known for its royal heritage. Visit Gurudwara Dukh Nivaran Sahib, where devotees believe their ailments and sufferings are cured. Explore Qila Mubarak Complex, showcasing the city’s royal history, and Sheesh Mahal, famous for its ornate mirror work. Overnight stay in Patiala.  In the evening explore the local markets such as Adalat Bazaar, Fawara Chowk etc. of Patiala.

Proceed for visit to revered Gurdwara Dukh Niwaran Sahib, known for its healing holy water and also for eradication of suffering. Also visit to Kali Mata Mandir. Afterwards drive to Fatehgarh Sahib, a significant site in Sikh history where the younger sons of Guru Gobind Singh Ji were martyred. Visit Gurudwara Fatehgarh Sahib, which commemorates their sacrifice and holds immense importance for Sikhs. Continue your journey to Chandigarh, the capital city known for its modern architecture and green spaces. Overnight stay in Chandigarh.

After breakfast, take an excursion to Sri Anandpur Sahib, one of the holiest places in Sikhism and the birthplace of the Khalsa in 1699.  Visit Gurudwara Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib, one of the five Takhts, where Guru Gobind Singh Ji initiated the Khalsa Panth.  Return to Chandigarh in the evening. If time permits, explore the city’s landmarks like Rock Garden, Sukhna Lake, or Rose Garden.

After breakfast, drive back to Delhi for your onward journey, concluding your spiritual pilgrimage of Punjab’s most revered Gurudwaras.
