8 Days - Hemkunt Sahib and Paonta Sahib Tour
This 8-day tour combines the spiritual journey to Hemkunt Sahib, located in the majestic Himalayas, with a visit to the sacred Paonta Sahib, nestled in the foothills. The tour offers a blend of challenging treks, serene landscapes, and a deep connection to Sikh history and spirituality.
Day 1: Delhi – Rishikesh
Begin your spiritual journey with a drive from Delhi to Rishikesh, a gateway to the Garhwal Himalayas. Upon arrival, you’ll have the evening free to explore this holy city, famous for its temples and ashrams along the banks of the Ganges.
Day 2: Rishikesh – Gurudwara Srinagar Sahib – Joshimath
After breakfast, embark on a scenic drive to Joshimath, with a stop at Gurudwara Srinagar Sahib en route. This gurdwara holds historical importance and offers a peaceful ambiance. Continue the journey through the winding roads of the Himalayas, arriving at Joshimath by evening. Spend the night here, preparing for the upcoming trek.
Day 3: Joshimath – Govind Dham (Ghangaria)
Start early and drive to Govind Ghat (approx.. 22kms), the base point for the trek to Govind Dham (Ghangaria). After a 13-kilometer trek through stunning valleys and alongside the Alaknanda River, you’ll reach Ghangaria, a small village that serves as the last stop before Hemkunt Sahib. Settle in for the night, ready for tomorrow’s highlight.
Day 4: Govind Dham – Hemkunt Sahib – Return to Govind Dham
Today, embark on a sacred and rewarding trek (apprx. 5.5 kms / 5 hrs one way) to Hemkunt Sahib, a revered Sikh pilgrimage site set at an altitude of 4,632 meters. The climb is challenging, but the stunning scenery and spiritual significance of the site make it worthwhile. After paying your respects and soaking in the serenity of Hemkunt Lake, descend back to Govind Dham for an overnight stay.
Day 5: Govind Dham – Govind Ghat – Drive to Rudraprayag
Trek back from Govind Dham to Govind Ghat, retracing your steps through the breath-taking landscapes. Upon reaching Govind Ghat, drive to Rudraprayag, a town known for its confluence of the Alaknanda and Mandakini rivers. Spend the night here, resting after the long trek.
Day 6: Rudraprayag – Rishikesh
After breakfast, continue the drive back to Rishikesh, where the peaceful ambiance of the town offers a perfect setting for rest and reflection. You can spend the evening exploring the ghats of Rishikesh or participating in the Ganga Aarti.
Day 7: Rishikesh – Day Trip to Paonta Sahib
Embark on a day trip to Paonta Sahib, a significant Sikh gurdwara located on the banks of the Yamuna River. This gurdwara is associated with Guru Gobind Singh, who spent several years here. After a spiritually enriching visit, return to Rishikesh for an overnight stay.
Day 8: Rishikesh – Delhi
After breakfast, drive back to Delhi, bringing your spiritual journey to a close. You’ll arrive in Delhi by evening, with memories of your pilgrimage to Hemkunt Sahib and Paonta Sahib etched in your heart.
