This 14-day tour takes you on a captivating journey through the Jewish heritage of India, exploring centuries-old synagogues, communities, and historic landmarks that have preserved Jewish culture and traditions in this diverse land. From the coastal cities of Mumbai and Cochin to the historical hubs of Kolkata and Delhi, this tour provides deep insights into the Jewish diaspora's remarkable presence in India, allowing travelers to engage with vibrant Jewish history, architecture, and rituals, while also experiencing the broader cultural diversity of the country.

Arrive in Mumbai, the cultural and financial capital of India. After check-in, relax and acclimatize. In the evening, you will have the chance to visit the iconic Gateway of India and enjoy a leisurely stroll along Marine Drive.

After breakfast, embark on a full-day Jewish heritage tour of Mumbai. Begin with a visit to the Keneseth Eliyahoo Synagogue, built in 1884 by the Sassoon family, a prominent Jewish family. Then head to the Magen David Synagogue, a beautifully preserved structure showcasing India’s Jewish history. In the afternoon, visit the David Sassoon Library and the Jewish Cemetery in Worli, offering further insight into the community’s legacy. Overnight in Mumbai.

Travel to Alibaug to learn about the Bene Israel Jews, one of the oldest Jewish communities in India, visiting key sites such as ancient Jewish settlements and local synagogues. Return to Mumbai in the evening.

After breakfast, drive to Pune, known for its historical Jewish community. Visit the Ohel David Synagogue, also called Lal Deval, built by David Sassoon in 1867, a striking example of Gothic architecture. Explore the Jewish cemetery in Pune, and visit Jewish community centers that continue to uphold the traditions and culture.

The day at leisure for personal activities. After breakfast, take a flight to Ahmedabad, home to the relatively newer Jewish community.

Explore the Magen Abraham Synagogue, established in 1934, and spend time with local Jewish families to gain deeper insight into the community’s life in Gujarat.  Spend rest of the day exploring Ahmedabad’s rich cultural heritage beyond its Jewish sites. Visit the Sabarmati Ashram, once the residence of Mahatma Gandhi, and the city’s famous Adalaj Stepwell (time permitting). Overnight in Ahmedabad

After breakfast, fly to Kolkata, a city with a fascinating Jewish past. Upon arrival, visit the Beth El Synagogue and the Magen David Synagogue, two of the most significant synagogues in India, both featuring impressive architecture. Learn about Kolkata’s once-thriving Jewish population, which was mainly comprised of Baghdadi Jews

Spend the day exploring more Jewish landmarks, including the Jewish Cemetery and the former Jewish neighborhood. In the afternoon, visit cultural sites like the Victoria Memorial and Howrah Bridge to understand the city’s rich cultural and colonial history. Overnight in Kolkata.

Fly to Cochin, a city with one of the oldest Jewish communities in India, the Cochin Jews. After arrival, visit the Paradesi Synagogue, built in 1568 and still in use today, making it one of the oldest active synagogues in the Commonwealth. Wander through Jew Town, famous for its antique shops and spice markets. Overnight in Cochin.

Continue exploring the Jewish history of Cochin by visiting the Kadavumbhagam Synagogue and Thekkumbhagam Synagogue. Learn about the unique customs and traditions of the Cochin Jews, and explore their relationship with the local Indian communities. In the evening, enjoy a traditional Kathakali dance performance. Overnight in Cochin.

After breakfast, drive to Alleppey, famous for its backwaters. Experience a serene houseboat cruise through the network of canals, lakes, and lagoons, offering a unique perspective of Kerala’s natural beauty. This is a day to relax and unwind. Overnight on the houseboat in Alleppey.

Fly to Goa, known for its Portuguese influence and historical Jewish presence. Upon arrival, visit the Jacob’s Circle Jewish Cemetery, one of the few remnants of the Jewish community that once lived here. Explore Old Goa to see its colonial architecture, including churches and cathedrals. Overnight in Goa.

Spend the day exploring the churches of Old Goa.  Rest of the day at leisure to explore the local market.

After breakfast, depending on your flight schedule, enjoy some free time before heading to the airport for your onward journey, taking with you cherished memories of India’s unique and diverse Jewish heritage.
