The 4-day Gujarat Kite Festival Tour Package offers a front-row experience of the International Kite Festival, celebrated each January in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Known locally as Uttarayan, this festival marks the end of winter and is one of the state’s most vibrant celebrations. The itinerary combines kite-flying festivities with cultural sightseeing, showcasing Gujarat’s heritage, delicious cuisine, and colorful local traditions.
Day 1: Arrival in Ahmedabad
Upon arrival in Ahmedabad, you are transferred to their hotel for check-in and relaxation. In the afternoon, a guided heritage walk takes them through the old city, exploring landmarks such as the Sidi Saiyyed Mosque with its famous stone latticework and the charming narrow lanes with historic havelis (mansions). In the evening, you can experience Ahmedabad’s traditional food scene with a tasting tour.
Day 2: International Kite Festival and Cultural Exhibitions
The day is dedicated to the International Kite Festival, where the sky is filled with kites of all shapes, sizes, and colors from around the world. You head to the main festival grounds, typically held at Sabarmati Riverfront, to enjoy the sights of intricate kites from different countries and witness traditional kite-flying techniques. There are cultural exhibitions, live folk music, dance performances, and craft displays as part of the festivities.
Day 3: Patang Bazaar (Kite Market) and Sabarmati Ashram
You start the morning with a visit to the famous Patang Bazaar, a bustling kite market where locals buy their kites and string in preparation for the festival. This vibrant marketplace provides a close look at the festival’s excitement. In the afternoon, you visit the historic Sabarmati Ashram, Mahatma Gandhi’s former residence, and learn about his contributions to India’s freedom struggle. In the evening, you enjoy more kite-flying events or cultural performances at the festival grounds.
Day 4: Depart Ahmedabad
On the final day, you go on a day excursion to the Modhera Sun Temple, an exquisite example of 11th -century architecture dedicated to the sun god. Known for its intricate carvings, this temple complex is a UNESCO World Heritage site and a marvel of Solanki-era craftsmanship. After returning to Ahmedabad, you are transferred to the airport or railway station for departure.
