Char Dham Yatra

The 12-day Char Dham Yatra tour covers the sacred pilgrimage circuit in Uttarakhand, visiting the four holy shrines of Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath. The journey begins with the first stop at Yamunotri, the source of the Yamuna River, followed by a trek to Gangotri, dedicated to the Ganga River. After Gangotri, you head to Kedarnath, the revered Shiva temple nestled in the Himalayas. The tour concludes at Badrinath, home to the temple of Lord Vishnu. The program includes scenic drives, temple visits, holy rituals, and time for spiritual reflection, while covering majestic landscapes, riverbanks, and mountain peaks.

Arrive at Haridwar or Dehradun and drive to Barkot via Mussoorie, stopping at Kempty Falls for sightseeing. Check-in to the hotel in Barkot for overnight stay.

After breakfast, drive to Janki Chatti and start the trek to Yamunotri, either on foot or by pony/doli (optional). Visit the Yamunotri temple, where pilgrims perform rituals at the sacred Surya Kund hot spring and offer prayers to Goddess Yamuna. Trek back to Janki Chatti and return to Barkot for the night.

Depart for Uttarkashi after breakfast. En route, visit the Shivgufa (Shiva Cave). On arrival, check in at the hotel and later visit the famous Kashi Vishwanath Temple. Spend the night in Uttarkashi.

Drive to Gangotri early in the morning, following the scenic route along the Bhagirathi River. On arrival, take a holy dip in the sacred Ganges (also called Bhagirathi at its source). Visit the Gangotri Temple, dedicated to Goddess Ganga. After performing rituals and prayers, drive back to Uttarkashi for an overnight stay.

After breakfast, drive towards Guptkashi. En route, pass through picturesque villages and rivers. On arrival, check into the hotel, and visit the Ardh Narishwar Temple if time permits. Overnight stay in Guptkashi.

After early breakfast, proceed to Sonprayag. From here, drive to Gaurikund and start the 16 km trek to Kedarnath, either on foot, by horse, or via helicopter (optional, pre-booking required). On arrival, visit the sacred Kedarnath Temple, one of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva. Overnight stay in Kedarnath (basic accommodation due to the high-altitude location).

After morning prayers at Kedarnath Temple, trek back to Gaurikund and drive to Guptkashi. Rest and relax after the long trek. Overnight at Guptkashi.

After breakfast, drive to Badrinath via Joshimath. On arrival, check in at the hotel. In the evening, visit the Badrinath Temple for darshan of Lord Vishnu. Participate in the evening aarti and explore the nearby Tapt Kund (hot springs). Overnight stay in Badrinath.

Early morning, attend the morning rituals at Badrinath Temple and visit Mana Village, the last village before the Tibetan border, as well as attractions like Vyas Gufa and Bhim Pul. After sightseeing, drive back to Joshimath and check into the hotel for the night.

After breakfast, drive to Rudraprayag, the confluence of the Alaknanda and Mandakini rivers. En route, visit the Narsingh Temple in Joshimath. On arrival at Rudraprayag, check into the hotel for an overnight stay.

Depart for Rishikesh after breakfast. On arrival, check into the hotel. In the evening, visit the famous Laxman Jhula, Ram Jhula, and Parmarth Niketan Ashram, followed by attending the Ganga Aarti on the banks of the river. Overnight stay in Rishikesh.

After breakfast, depart for Haridwar or Dehradun for your onward journey. End of the tour.

Weather conditions during yatra:

The ideal time for the Char Dham Yatra is from May to June, with pleasant temperatures ranging from 15°C to 25°C, making it perfect for trekking and visiting temples. September and October are also great choices, with relatively pleasant weather.

July to September are monsoon season with heavy rainfall, landslides, and flooding make it challenging for travel.

Road conditions - please note landslides are common during monsoon season, causing roadblocks and diversions.
